Thriving in a Fast-Changing Communication World

In today’s whirlwind of digital transformation, where traditional media is constantly being redefined by the rise of social platforms, staying relevant as a communication and public relations professional requires more than just experience. It demands humility, adaptability, and lifelong learning.

My personal compass in navigating this complexity has always been anchored o
n the following phrase: “The only thing I know is that I know nothing.”
It’s a daily reminder to stay curious, open-minded, and ready to learn-because every day brings new tools, new voices, and new ways to connect.

Today was one of those days that reignited my passion for this craft. As Director of Communication and Public Relations at the Ministry of Decentralization and Local Development, I had the privilege of joining fellow top managers in a two-day training on “Public Speaking Before Journalists.”

The experience is both enlightening and nostalgic. Reuniting with former colleagues from mainstream media felt like flipping through a well-loved chapter of my professional journey. That is discussing newsroom pressures, overcoming mic fright, commanding interviews, and adapting to the ever-watchful camera lens.

A standout moment was reconnecting with Aimé Robert Biyina, a powerhouse of journalism and one of Cameroon’s most brilliant French-speaking voices. I was equally honored to meet once again Professor Daniel Anicet Noah. Over two decades ago, he first introduced me to the magic of radio journalism. Tomorrow, I look forward to learning from Alain Belibi, another legend who taught me the art of the interview during my days at the Yaounde Advanced School of Mass Communication.

These encounters reinforced something I’ve always believed: In communication, there is no finish line.
Our growth depends on continued learning and strong professional bonds. And I’m grateful for every opportunity to do just that.
